Flu Death Numbers Are Greatly Exaggerated

Wikipedia tells us that the flu virus results in “about 250,000 to 500,000 yearly deaths” worldwide. The CDC says that at least 36,000 people die from the flu in the U.S. each year. And every year this is  the season when the media encourages everyone, including infants, pregnant women and elderly, to get a flu shot. We are told to disbelieve or ignore the fact that people who receive yearly flu vaccines can show reduced protection,1 and that flu vaccination may actually increase the risk of influenza infection,1 and that the shot is estimated to be only 20% effective,2 and that what little effectiveness the shot does have diminishes quickly,3 and that the influenza vaccine may be one of the riskier vaccines we use regularly.4

For more than a decade, the CDC has been claiming that there are more than 200,000 estimated hospitalizations and at least 36,000 deaths contributed to influenza every year in the United States. Now the CDC is saying that 80,000 Americans died of the flu in 2017. This would exceed the causes of death by car accidents or cancer or all of the other most likely causes of deaths in the United States. That averages out to 219 people dying every day from the flu, but since influenza is most prevalent in October and November we would be seeing about 450 to 500 deaths a day within the flu season.

These numbers are radically inaccurate. Huffington Post in Canada reports:

According to the National Vital Statistics System in the U.S., for example, annual flu deaths in 2010 amounted to just 500 per year — fewer than deaths from ulcers (2,977), hernias (1,832) and pregnancy and childbirth (825), and a far cry from the big killers such as heart disease (597,689) and cancers (574,743). The story is similar in Canada, where unlikely killers likewise dwarf Statistics Canada’s count of flu deaths.

“Even that 500 figure for the U.S. could be too high, according to analyses in authoritative journals such as the American Journal of Public Health and the British Medical Journal. Only about 15-20 per cent of people who come down with flu-like symptoms have the influenza virus — the other 80-85 per cent actually caught rhinovirus or other germs that are indistinguishable from the true flu without laboratory tests, which are rarely done. In 2001, a year in which death certificates listed 257 Americans as having died of flu, only 18 were positively identified as true flus. The other 239 were simply assumed to be flus and most likely had few true flus among them.

The British Medical Journal stated in 2005 that, “U.S. data on influenza deaths are a mess.” 6

The CDC is counting all deaths caused by pneumonia as likely influenza-related deaths. Pneumonia has more than 30 different causes. Influenza is just one of them.7 The CDC’s statistics on hospitalizations are extremely flawed too:

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has claimed that over 200,000 Americans are hospitalized and 36,000 die from the flu each year. However, Dr. Joseph Mercola’s investigation of inflated flu shot statistics revealed that the hospitalization estimate includes not just those who are hospitalized with flu, but for pneumonia, respiratory, and even heart conditions.

The CDC’s annual hospitalization statistic is untrustworthy for another startling reason. The CDC’s 2012 to 2013 season analysis states that it determines its flu-associated hospitalization rates from the data provided by the Emerging Infections Program (EIP). However, the EIP only reports hospitalizations for which a laboratory test confirms a flu diagnosis. The CDC then calls this underreporting, and “adjusts” for it by applying a “hospitalization underreporting multiplier” of 2.7. This means for every real, documented case of influenza, the CDC multiplies it by nearly three.” – Alliance for Natural Health

The CDC is using the media to scare the public into getting flu shots they do not need to create demand and profit. In 2015 it was reported to be a 1.61 billion dollar business.8 The CDC gets much of its funding from pharmaceutical companies and owns more than 50 different vaccine patents.9

If you want to stay well during the flu season, we recommend avoiding sugar and other refined foods and make sure your gut is healthy (see How To Heal Your Gut). That should be enough. If you want to be extra cautious, take some vitamin C and sip on this Root Cider daily (read our review here). I also recommend having the following in your supplement cabinet in case you do begin to come down with something or if you eat some of those unhealthy holiday foods:

If you feel yourself coming down with something, eat salads (like these), sip on the aforementioned root cider every hour, and get on the supplements listed above.

Excerpt from article by Barbara Loe Fisher on Dr. Mercola’s site:

Recorded Influenza Deaths Dropping in the 21st Century

Here is what I found: Since 1940, the highest number of influenza deaths recorded in a single year was 21,047 deaths in 1941. In fact, the mortality rate from influenza was NOT rising in the late 20th century – as the CDC employees have alleged – it was dropping.

There were only between 600 and 750 influenza deaths recorded annually between 1995 and 1997.34 The most influenza deaths recorded in a single year since 1979 was about 2,900 deaths and that was in 2009, the H1N1 swine flu pandemic year!

CDC Expanding the Flu Vaccine Market Between 2000-2010

But that didn’t stop CDC policymakers, along with drug company and medical trade association lobbyists ever present at the policymaking table, from using inflated influenza hospitalization and mortality estimates to justify expanding the influenza vaccine market:

  • In 2000, CDC policymakers voted to expand flu shot recommendations to all healthy Americans over age 50.35 Out of a population of 300 million, there were 1,765 recorded influenza deaths that year.
  • In 2002, CDC voted to add all healthy babies from six to 23 months.36 There were 727 recorded influenza deaths that year.
  • In 2006, CDC voted to recommend flu shots for all healthy children up to five years old as well as all healthy pregnant women in any trimester.37 There were 849 recorded influenza deaths that year.
  • In 2007, CDC voted to add all healthy children up to eight years old.38 There were 411 recorded influenza deaths that year.
  • In 2008, CDC voted to recommend annual flu shots for all healthy children up to age 18 years.39 There were 1,722 recorded influenza deaths that year.
  • In 2009, the Secretaries of Health and Homeland Security declared a national emergency because they said pandemic H1N1 swine flu was sweeping the country and tens of thousands of people could die. Liability free drug companies were told to rush an experimental swine flu vaccine to the market.40
  • In 2010, a year when there were 494 recorded influenza deaths, the CDC officials finally reached the ultimate goal of their long game: they told doctors to give annual flu shots to every American, healthy or not, from the year of birth to the year of death.41

Flu Shot Estimated Only 20% Effective Again, and New Study Shows Effectiveness Diminishes Quickly

This fall’s flu vaccine is estimated to be 20 percent effective for the dominant circulating strain of influenza A, which is the same efficacy as shots given the past two years.

A new study of 6,610 human flu sequences predicts that this fall’s flu vaccine will likely have the same reduced efficacy against the dominant circulating strain of influenza A as the vaccine given in 2016 and 2017 due to viral mutations related to vaccine production in eggs.” – Science Daily

Rice University researchers predicted the efficacy using a method called pEpitope, which is a fast and inexpensive way of estimating the effectiveness of a flu vaccine. The latest pEpitope study indicates that the pEpitope method is more accurate than the standard ferret tests.

The vaccine has been changed for 2018-19, but unfortunately it still contains two critical mutations that arise from the egg-based vaccine production process.  Our study found that these same mutations halved the efficacy of flu vaccines in the past two seasons, and we expect they will lower the efficacy of the next vaccine in a similar manner.” – John W. Cox, Rice University, Professor in Biochemical and Genetic Engineering

Another study shows flu vaccine effectiveness wanes over time. The risk of getting the flu climbs about 16% every 28 days after getting vaccinated.

That means many people could be less protected during the height of flu season if they get vaccinated at the beginning of September.” – Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy

We’re wondering if they will start recommending multiple flu shots per flu season soon.

Flu Shot Effectiveness Lessens After 28 Days

In exchange for a shot that most recently rendered a mere 1 in 10 who people who receive it protected, you get an increased risk of actually getting the flu and exposure to side effects like headaches, fever, sepsis, convulsions, asthma, other respiratory problems, and paralysis. While many of those side effects can lead to permanent issues, a new study from the Kaiser Permanente Northern California finds that the vaccine’s ability to protect you from the flu may not be so long-lasting. The risk of getting the flu rose by 16 percent twenty-eight days after getting the vaccine, and that risk continued to increase throughout the flu season.

The Study

Published in Clinical Infectious Diseases, the Kaiser Permanente study looked at 44,959 individuals who had tested positive for the flu from September 2010 to March 2017. Subjects had been given the inactivated flu vaccine. Those who had been tested 42 to 69 days after being vaccinated had 1.32 times the odds of testing positive for any variation of influenza than those tested within 14-41 days of receiving the shot. Patients tested more than 5 months after their shot had 2.06 the odds of testing positive for the flu.

The Pressure

The pressure to get the flu shot (or any vaccine) is intense. Many employers, especially in the healthcare field (go figure), require it, and advertisements and media proclaiming the importance of protecting yourself and the others around you from the flu are everywhere. If you’re in a situation where the flu shot becomes a must, it’s imperative you don’t treat it as actual protection from the flu. In fact, the first thing you need to do after getting the shot is getting the preservatives used in the vaccine out of your system.

The System

The flu shot is not about the flu. If it was, they would have dropped it a long time ago. It seemed like every article released about the vaccine last year included a quote from a carefully selected expert, designed to communicate to you how important it is to get the flu shot…in spite of this article you finished reading about how ineffective it is. This latest study is no different. Researchers concluded that health care providers should carefully consider the timing of the shot during flu season.

But let’s face it. If anything, the manufacturers of the flu vaccine will cite this study as a reason to vaccinate people more than once during flu season. Twice the profit and twice the protection! What could go wrong…??

6 Ways to Prepare for a Rough Flu Season

Flu season is shaping up to be brutal this year, with many areas reporting influenza cases a month ahead of schedule. Australia, who experiences flu season before the United States and Europe, suffered from a particularly rough season with almost twice as many deaths and more than twice the number of infections in comparison to the previous season. In response the flu vaccine gospel is already being pushed harder than usual, but that’s not going to help much.

Back in September, Dr. Vicky Sheppeard, director of communicable diseases at New South Wales Health in Australia indicated that “the four flu strains in the vaccine are well-matched to circulating viruses…” It turns out that a good match doesn’t really guarantee anything, as the New England Journal of Medicine reports that early vaccine effectiveness estimates found that the vaccine was only ten percent effective in Australia. This is a far cry from the initial overall estimates of 42% effectiveness or the 34% predicted for H3N2, the dominant flu strain in Australia that’s notoriously difficult to match. Flu shots for the United States are essentially the same as the one used in Australia.

How to Win at the Flu Season

None of the debate about the flu shot changes the fact that the flu season is here (early), and if Australia is any indicator, it’s going to suck. It doesn’t have to. You’ve got a heads-up, so use this time to prep. Here are the most effective strategies for avoiding or mitigating the flu this season.

Load Up On Vitamins

Winter is not the best season for vitamin D, but it is critical for flu prevention. A review of 25 studies that included more than 10,000 participants found that vitamin d reduces the likelihood of respiratory infections like the cold and flu. It can be difficult to get all of your vitamin d from diet alone, especially in winter. If you suspect vitamin d deficiency, supplementation has proven to be effective.

Vitamin C is also a critical part of preparing for flu season. One of the most powerful antioxidants available to us, it also boosts immune function. Vitamin C transporter molecules in the membranes of the immune cells actively pump the vitamin into the cells – especially in a stressful situation when the body is more likely to need vitamin C. While there are plenty of vitamin c supplements available, many of them are derived from corn and don’t absorb well in the body. To get the full benefit of vitamin c, whole food sources like berries, colored peppers, broccoli, and dark leafy greens.

Gargle

It’s not fun, but gargling apple cider vinegar, fire cider, or even salt water can inhibit harmful microbes trying to take up residency in the throat or sinuses. Some viruses are able to hang on, but that infection will likely be less severe. A fire cider has the added antioxidant benefits of hot peppers.

Hot and Cold

Get hot and sweaty! A fever happens when your body is fighting an infection, and treatments like hot baths, showers, and saunas can trick the body into behaving in that manner. Moving back and forth between hot and cold also provides flu relief, loosening congestion, improving circulation, and boosting the immune system. Always start with hot, and then switch to cold. Switching between very hot and very cold in the shower is the easiest method, but hydrotherapy can also be accomplished with a hot bath and a rubdown with a cold cloth. Also referred to as cold mitten friction, dip a washcloth in 50 to 60 degree water, and rub vigorously.

Echinacea

In addition to the vitamins, there are plenty of natural remedies for flu prevention. One of the best known and verified of these is echinacea. Echinacea is most effective when it’s taken right before or at the very beginning of a developing case of the flu. Anti-inflammatory and antifungal, a good-quality echinacea tincture gives your mouth a fuzzy feeling, and the herb loses its effectiveness after ten days or so.

Related: Shillington’s Echinacea Plus

Hydrate

Dehydration makes the body more susceptible to harmful invaders, and many early flu symptoms like a runny nose and sweating can increase that. Water is the safe play here, but if you’re looking to improve your all-around health at the same time, reach for the cranberry lemonade. The vitamin c is a proven flu buster, and cranberry keeps the kidney processing things smoothly. Another comforting option is a loose leaf, herbal tea. The tea provides a variation on the hot treatment, though it is important to choose an organic tea from a company you trust.

Diet

If you do everything on this list, you’ll likely be able to take on the flu quickly and effectively, but to keep your immune system in tip-top condition, diet comes first. Emerging research has continued to confirm that our microbiome determines how healthy we are. Beneficial bacteria like beneficial food, and feeding them the vegetables and fruit creates a positive cycle the reverberates throughout the entire body. The opposite is true of potentially harmful microbes and viruses like the flu. Refined sugars, refined grains, and processed foods fuel harmful bacteria and can lead to a stressed and overworked immune system, perfect for flu viruses to take advantage of. Check out this salad recipe to get some ideas for loading up on the veggies.

Always Be Prepared

The boy scout motto seems to be quoted often, but no one is applying it to our health. Then again, that’s what the vaccine is supposed to do. According to experts, this year’s flu vaccine is about as effective as going camping with a sheet instead and hoping it doesn’t rain or get cold. Don’t you want to be the person who actually prepared? It starts with diet.

50 Healthcare Workers Were Fired For Refusing the Flu Shot

Late last month a Minnesota-based health system fired about 50 employees for refusal to get the flu shot. Essentia Health announced in September that employees would be required to get vaccinated for influenza unless a religious or medical exemption is obtained. The company said it was trying to keep their patients from getting sick at its 15 hospitals and 75 clinics.

Related: One Million Receive Faulty Dengvaxia Vaccine Which May Cause Dengue Rather Than Prevent it

Essentia reported that 99% of the company’s eligible employees received the shot, or received an exemption. The United Steelworkers union filed an injunction in an attempt to delay the policy, but a federal judge has denied the request. Minnesota Public Radio has reported that two other unions are filing grievances on behalf of workers who lost their jobs.

Mandatory influenza vaccinations for health care workers — who really benefits from this draconian measure? While public health officials tell you that mandatory flu shots for all health care workers will protect patients from influenza, there’s virtually no good scientific evidence to support such claims. If health and safety were really the chief aim of this forced vaccination policy, why not mandate vitamin D testing and optimization, since vitamin D supplementation has been shown to be 10 times more effective than getting a flu shot if you are vitamin D deficient? Even if you’re not deficient in vitamin D, studies evaluating the “number needed to treat” (NNT) reveal it is estimated that one person would be spared from getting sick with influenza for every 33 people taking a vitamin D supplement (NNT = 33), whereas 40 people would have to receive the flu vaccine in order to prevent a single case of the flu (NNT = 40). But, what would the financial incentive be for that? Unfortunately, it appears mandating annual flu shots for health care workers is little more than a for-profit scheme transformed into oppressive health policy and law by drug industry insiders and powerful lobbyists.” – Mercola, Vaccine Deficient Employees Fired to Gain Health Care Funding

Influenza Vaccine – A Comprehensive Overview of the Potential Dangers and Effectiveness of the Flu Shot

Influenza is the most common infectious disease. According to the World Health Organization, 20-30% of children and 5-10% of adults come down with the flu every year. Usually, the flu is a manageable illness, but serious complications can occur. We are told that ¼ million to a ½ million people die every year due to serious complications from the flu, usually pneumonia. 1

These numbers are subject to a great deal of interpretation since they are based on projections and best guesses, not lab tests confirming the patient who died from pneumonia ever suffered from actual influenza. In addition, 70% of deaths are patients over 75 years of age with a combination of health issues. If influenza is such a major health concern, why aren’t doctors and hospitals testing for confirmation? Chances are, we would find the numbers highly over inflated.

Spanish Influenza

No discussion of influenza would be complete without mention of the Spanish Flu pandemic. In 1918, up to 5% of the global population died due to the Spanish flu, with more fatalities in one year than four years of the bubonic plague. Estimates, of the dead in that one-year, range from 20 million to 100 million.

Most influenza strains target children, the elderly, and the infirmed. This strain was just as deadly for healthy young adults, many of whom died within hours of exhibiting their first symptoms. The dead were tagged for name and race as hemorrhaging under the skin made later identification impossible.

This horrific pandemic has become the scare tactic to promote vaccine programs such as ours, even though the vaccines are dirty, dangerous, and largely ineffective.

History of The Flu Shot

It was previously believed that a bacterium, Haemophilus, caused the flu. In 1933, researchers learned that viruses cause influenza. Five years later, Thomas Francis and Jonas Salk developed the first flu vaccine. Initially, the vaccine was used on U.S. soldiers during WWII. 2

The influenza vaccine, or flu shot, is a commonly utilized vaccine with over 40% of Americans regularly receiving the inoculation. The CDC recommends that anyone over 6 months old receive the annual vaccine, stating that vaccination is the most effective method to prevent the flu and to avoid potentially serious flu-related complications. 3

How Influenza Spreads

People infected with influenza can spread the disease to others a full day before their first symptoms develop and for a week after developing symptoms. Children are likely to spread the virus for longer than a week.

The flu is spread by contact with infected people. When sick individuals cough, sneeze, or talk they produce tiny saliva droplets that carry the virus. When others breathe in these droplets, they can become ill. In addition, infected people spread the virus by touching solid surfaces, such as doorknobs. The virus can survive on solid surfaces for days and on porous surfaces or hands for many hours. When other people touch those items or surfaces and then their mouth or nose, the virus can spread.

It is also possible to get the flu from recently vaccinated individuals. Some flu vaccines are made from live attenuated viruses. For instance, those receiving live vaccine strain nasal viruses can spread the virus for a week or more.

How Flu Shots Are Made

There are 16 different flu shots approved by the FDA, made by several pharmaceutical companies. Some of these vaccines are designed solely to protect against the H1N1 influenza virus A strain. But most flu vaccines distributed in the U.S. are designed to provide protection from three strains of influenza viruses; two strains of type A influenza viruses, and one strain of type B influenza virus. The strains are chosen every year by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control, based on a best guess as to the greatest threat in any given year.

There are three main methods employed in the manufacture of flu vaccines.

  • Egg based vaccines
  • Cell based vaccines
  • Recombinant flu vaccine

At present, many influenza vaccines are manufactured by inoculating the virus into eggs where the viruses multiply. Afterwards, the viral components are harvested. An effort is made to remove egg particles but some egg ingredients remain. Alternately, animal cells can be used instead of fertilized chicken eggs as the culture medium.

Influenza

The authentic flu virus causes a respiratory illness, specifically referred to as type A or type B influenza virus. This virus can be found in secretions of the nose, throat and lungs.

Every year we have a flu season when it appears the flu sweeps over the population. However, it is estimated that as many as 80% of the flu-like illnesses that occur during flu season are not actually the flu. Curiosity is expensive. A lab test is the only reliable confirmation of whether a patient’s flu-like symptoms are caused by influenza or another viral or bacterial cause.

Symptoms of the FLU

The flu has similar symptoms to a cold virus, though flu symptoms are more severe. Different strains of the flu have similar symptoms. Common symptoms include a fever over 100°F, feeling feverish, chills, a cough and/or sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, headache, body aches, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Sometimes symptoms can be more severe and require medical attention. These include difficulty breathing, cyanosis (purplish or blue lips), pain or pressure in the abdomen, sudden dizziness, confusion, persistent or severe vomiting, seizures, or symptoms that are flu-like then dissipate before returning with a worse cough or fever.

Ingredients in the flu shot

With all of the different flu vaccines on the market, the ingredient list varies a little from shot to shot. Common troublesome ingredients include polymyxin, beta-propiolactone, formaldehyde, aluminum, thimerosal, polysorbate 80 and neomycin.

All of the Ingredients are Toxic but Many Are Known Carcinogens

Thimerosal, which is present in most flu vaccines, is highly toxic and synergistically toxic, meaning it becomes significantly more toxic when in the presence of other chemical compounds such as aluminum and many antibiotics. Thimerosal is made of thiosalicyclic acid and ethyl mercury. Mercury is 500-1,000 times more toxic than lead. Paradoxically, pregnant women are told by their doctors to limit their seafood intake due to mercury concerns, but now, pregnant women are also told to get their mercury-containing flu shots.

If you’ve ever heard the saying “mad as a hatter,” it refers to the fact that mercury was once used in the making of fur hats. Hatters, those unfortunates souls who made fur hats, would often go insane due to mercury poisoning. Studies have linked high levels of mercury to Alzheimer’s disease. High levels of mercury has also been linked to autism, ADHD, and other learning disabilities and neurological impairments.

Polysorbate 80 is often contaminated with 1-4-dioxane, a carcinogen that has been shown to cause reproductive disturbances in rats. Even though people are not rats, how could polysorbate 80 be good for human health?

Beta-propiolactone is a powerful and toxic disinfectant with multiple uses. It is used to sterilize blood plasma, shots, tissue grafts, surgical instruments, and enzymes. It is also “reasonably expected to be a human carcinogen”, especially when injected into the bloodstream (International Agency for Research on Cancer, 1999).4

Many Flu Vaccines Also Contain GMOS

Many flu vaccines contain human genetic material that has been genetically modified. With ingredients this questionable and this toxic in the vaccines you would want to be confident that the vaccines are highly safe and effective, but there is limited evidence to support this notion. Dangers of the flu vaccine, on the other hand, are not hard to find.

Dangers of the Flu shot

Adverse reactions to the flu shot do happen. Most commonly, these reactions begin within 12 hours of vaccination and can last several days. These common symptoms include: fever, fatigue, painful joints, and headache.

Serious reported complications to the flu shot include brain inflammation, convulsions, Bell’s palsy, paralysis of limbs, neuropathy, shock, asthma, wheezing, and other problems breathing.

There are other serious reactions to the influenza vaccine such as Guillain-Barre Syndrome or GBS, which occurs 2-4 weeks following vaccination. GBS is an autoimmune disease and nerve disorder characterized by muscle weakness, unsteady gait, numbness, tingling, persistent pain, and paralysis of the face, and/or limbs. About 5% of GBS cases prove fatal. Full recovery or permanent disability can result.

Brain and nerve disorders including encephalopathy, optic neuritis, partial facial paralysis, brachial plexus neuropathy and vasculitis have also been reported following the flu vaccine.

Adult influenza vaccine injury claims are the number one claim submitted to the federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program or VICP. It is very difficult to get a fair hearing in the VICP. Most of the cases are simply dismissed. Vaccine manufacturers enjoy special protection from liability; they cannot be sued. All claims must be handled through the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.

“As of November 2013, there have been more than 93,000 reports of reactions, hospitalizations, injuries and deaths following influenza vaccinations made to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), including 1,080 related deaths, 8,888 hospitalizations, 1,801 related disabilities and over 1,700 cases of GBS. In 2013, the Federal Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines (ACCV) voted to add GBS to the Vaccine Injury Table within the federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP).” 5

The CDC posts all kinds of statistics, but there are not clear statistics regarding the risks of the influenza vaccines. Hard numbers like the number of vaccine injuries, vaccine deaths, or proof of vaccine efficacy are unavailable. For instance, it would be helpful to know how many of the influenza related deaths were people who had been vaccinated. The CDC’s claim that the flu shots are highly safe and effective would be more believable if they publicized the number of vaccine injuries or the percentage of risk. At a minimum, these numbers should match the number of claims settled in the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, if not exceeding them.

How To Avoid Getting The Flu

The basic bottom line to avoiding any serious illness, including influenza, is a healthy diet. We must feed the body the nutrients it needs while constantly aiding it in detoxifying from our polluted environment (air, water, and constant exposure to chemicals).

A truly healthy diet consists of 80% raw produce, more vegetables than fruit. All food ingested should be whole and organic, free of artificial flavorings, colorings, preservatives, MSG, GMOs, trans fats, and artificial sweeteners. To learn more about a healthy diet, read 80% Raw Food Diet.

Make Your Immune System Bulletproof with These Natural Remedies can help you prevent of treat the flu.

Other flu prevention strategies you’ve heard in the past may help. Yes, wash your hands frequently, but do not use antibacterial soaps, wipes, or solutions. These are toxic; they do more harm than good and they are creating super bugs. Plain old soap and water with a bit of scrubbing has been proven just as effective, if not more effective.

One very effective strategy is intensive gargling at the first sign of illness. Gargle with apple cider vinegar every hour or more to significantly cut the viral load. You will be aiding your immune system in killing off rapidly multiplying virus cells. If the infection takes hold, it will not be as severe.

Make sure you are getting enough vitamin D, vitamin A, vitamin E, and vitamin C (if not, supplement). One way to help ensure you get enough vitamins and minerals is to add Total Nutrition Powder to your daily diet. The link will take you to an article with a recipe to make your own. Also, stay hydrated, get plenty of sleep and exercise, and reduce stress.

If you do catch the flu, rest, hydrate, eat well, and avoid all sugar. Sugar feeds both bacteria and viruses, making the current infection worse and secondary infections more possible. Lemon water or cranberry lemonade sweetened with stevia are great alternatives to water. Just add pure, unsweetened cranberry juice and lemon juice to water and sweeten with stevia to taste.

And finally, if you do choose to vaccinate yourself or your child with the flu vaccine, do not forget the fact that it includes mercury, among other toxic ingredients. Please read How to Detoxify from Vaccinations and Heavy Metals.
