Stephen Colbert Reports on Testosterone Drugs

Stephen Colbert was absolutely brilliant in his comedic rant on big pharma!

Your Health – Pay Now or Pay Later

Pain tells us we are doing something wrong. That’s how life is supposed to work. But we live on credit in every way. Even our health. Taking a pill for a headache is like using a credit card with interest you pay later.

Green Parody

These are a few of our favorite videos that parady green issues

You probably have already seen at least a couple of these, but we figured any treehugger would enjoy seeing them again.

This green parody, Coal, by Free Love Reform was done so well some people didn’t realize it was a commercial until the last few seconds.

Another great green parody by Free Love Reform, Pizza Dabbers.

When this BP Spills Coffee video came out in June, it would have been too soon to laugh if this green parody video by UCBComedy.com wasn’t so damn funny!

This Grocery Store Wars video was an instant classic created by the brilliant minds at FreeRange Studios.

Another one of the greats by FreeRange Studios . This one is about factory farming. Check out their continuation of this story as well, The Meatrix II and The Meatrix II ½.

If you know of any more we should add please leave us a comment and let us know.

Bush-Obama Presidential Commemorative Coin

Act Now! (satire)

Obama Bush CoinIn light of President Obama’s continued efforts to clean up our environment by pushing for clean coal and nuclear power, signing the extension of the Patriot Act, and his inspiring warlord like acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize, we at Organic Lifestyle Magazine have decided to release this limited edition commemorative presidential coin featuring our president Barack Obama on one side and our former president George W. Bush on the other.

In Greed we trust.

As Obama continues to disappoint liberals and conservatives alike with broken promises and general short comings this minted official fake coin is bound to increase in value.

For only $49.95 you can have this official “Two Sides of the Same Coin” presidential memorabilia. If you order now we’ll pay shipping and handeling!

Disclaimer: This coin is not real. Half of all proceeds from people who send us money to purchase this coin will be donated to the Tea Party. The other half will be donated to the Green Party.

Disclaimer 2: We would never ever donate money to the Tea Party, ever!

Disclaimer 3: We will not be donating any money to anyone. We tree huggers will keep it to ourselves.

Doctors Mentality

Ever notice how doctors tend to think that their area of expertise is the answer to everything? Chiropractors will tell you asthma is caused by subluxation, your spine being out of alignment. Doctors will give you a prescription to suppress the symptoms. Reiki therapists will pull out your bad energy.

People are always looking for that quick fix, and there is always a specialist available to give it to you. It’s all about suppressing the symptoms as quickly as possible. People panic when they feel sick. Most people will never really know what’s it’s like to feel truly well; their health deteriorates as they age. They live with aches and pains on a daily basis, but if an acute pain pops up, they’re off and running to get the prescription and/or surgery to fix it ASAP.

A fever is the body’s way of fighting infection. Why take Tylenol to suppress it? Why would you take antibiotics for a virus? Why would you let someone slice your body open to remove an organ because it’s not working right? Seems nuts to me! Germs and our DNA are not the problem. The problem is our lifestyle and our need for instant gratification.

If You’re on Prescription Drugs, Don’t Kid Yourself

Since you’re reading this magazine right now, you probably either consider yourself healthy, or you are looking to become healthy. It’s time for some hard truth. If you are taking drugs, whether it be one or sixteen, over the counter or prescription, for prevention or a major illness, YOU ARE NOT HEALTHY!

Comic DrugsThere is a great misconception in America (and in many other countries) that drugs have something to do with health. They do not. In most cases, drugs are used by people who are looking for a way to make themselves feel better without actually having to change any of their habits. You see this if you ever pay attention to drug commercials. For instance, in a recent commercial for a blood glucose monitor, they talk about how to make diabetes treatment fit into their lifestyle. What about changing your lifestyle?

If you truly want to be healthy, I mean vibrant, no aches and pains, never a headache, hardly ever yawning, etc., you will have to get off of any and all drugs. But please note, there are many prescription drugs that are so dangerous, so addictive, that if you quit cold turkey, and/or without the assistance of a doctor, you may hurt yourself or others. I’ve seen this before. In fact, if you follow scientology and the many headlines scientologists make, you see what happens when people who know very little about drugs try to “cure” someone of their need for prescription drugs. Drugs are dangerous and in many cases getting off of drugs can be even more dangerous.

This magazine is about education. I’m not telling you to “get off of prescription drugs”. But I am saying that you can’t reach a level of optimum health if you are taking drugs. Do your own research. Take steps, baby steps, one step at a time, and start cleaning up your lifestyle. Or not. But don’t kid yourself.

Sick Of High Gas Prices?

Tired of big oil raking in all this profit while they also benefit from massive government subsidies thanks to the Bush administration? Is your children’s college fund going out of your pocket and into your local gas pump? Maybe you are a tree hugging hippie with a hybrid that used to cost $15 to fill up and now you spend $45. Or maybe you’re a hummer-driving logger who would run over a spotted owl if you saw one lying on the road. Either way, unless you are heavily invested in big oil, you’re probably not too happy with what’s happening at the gas pumps. There is no denying that big oil companies are taking advantage of us. But I for one am VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT!!!

I’m not invested in oil. I’m not a wealthy man by any stretch. It hurts me as much as it hurts you to fill up at the gas station. I feel the pain of the people on eBay who are selling their wedding rings to pay for gas. But I also know this: we as Americans drive and drive and drive, and until recently we had no concern over whether or not we were damaging the environment. Oh sure, we’ve all heard of people who carpooled, but we’ve probably never met one unless we live in California. We drive SUVs while people in Europe are cramming themselves into tiny cars like the ones a dozen clowns try to squeeze into at a circus.

A few years ago someone asked me, “What’s it gonna take to curb our oil usage?” I told them it would take more than global warming, more than war, more than the availability of alternative fuels. I said it would take very high gas prices. How high? Well, a lot higher than they are now.

We’re bitching, but how many of us have bought a hybrid? How many of us have written our local congressman or senator to ask why we don’t have electric cars? How many of us have done enough research to discover that this whole hydrogen fuel cell campaign was put together by the same people who bought up the battery patents for electric cars and then chose to sit on the technology so it can’t be used for another 12 years? How many people really understand that biofuel from corn is a worse idea than what we are doing now?

Until we are paying the true cost of gasoline, including the environmental cleanup and the health care costs associated with pollution, we will continue to drive like there is no tomorrow.

I was at the gas station in South Georgia when I overheard a guy talking about how he was thinking of trading in his pickup truck for a hybrid. I couldn’t help but smile. When a guy who wears a cap that says, “I’d rather push a Ford than drive a Chevy,” —a guy who drives a new Ford F 150 pickup with a gun rack, a confederate flag on the rear window, and a McCain bumper sticker—talks about trading in his truck for a hybrid, there’s hope for us all.
