Does Meat Cause Cancer? Yes and no…

We cannot truthfully say that meat causes cancer.

It’s not that simple.

Although many studies have linked meat consumption, particularly of red and processed meat, to cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity, and a shorter lifespan, this does not mean that meat consumption causes these issues.

It is important to consider the other factors that contribute to these findings, like the fact that meat-eaters tend to exercise less, eat fewer vegetables, and smoke more than vegetarians and vegans — who tend to be more health conscious.

In studies where the researchers accounted for these factors, there was a weak correlation between red meat and cancer and a stronger correlation between processed meat and cancer.  This appears to be the general consensus, though there are some studies that find no association between meat and cancer and others that suggest that meat promotes health.

For example, one study conducted in Austria found people who did not eat meat to be less healthy (in terms of cancer, allergies, and mental health disorders). Red meat was also found in another study to be essential for maintaining muscle mass and cognitive function in elderly women.

With all of this conflicting information, how can we possibly know if meat is good or bad for us?

The truth is we will never know unless we consider what could be behind the positive and negative findings of these studies. First, let’s start with what meat in its purest form does to the body.

Meat Does Not Create Cancer

Hypothetically, if we ate raw meat from healthy animals that are completely free of all additives, chemicals, and infectious bacteria and parasites then there is no way that it can create cancer.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, meat is an effective way to combat malnutrition and under-nourishment. This is because meat promotes health by providing us with complete proteins, minerals, vitamins, co-enzymes, antioxidants, and fats that are essential for our health. In fact, organ meats from pastured animals like beef liver are filled with more minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and amino acids than many of the healthiest and most popular plant foods.

But organ meats are a rare commodity now. Instead, we tend to have the least healthy cuts of meat (muscle meat) from sick and diseased animals that are raised in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs). This means that the steak that you love so much and the chicken breast that you thought was healthy is coming from the least nutritious part of an unhealthy animal that has trace amounts of antibiotics and pesticides in it from what it was fed.

These antibiotics and pesticides are toxic to the body, but we can most likely handle them in small quantities. What renders the meat cancerous is when we process it and cook it in ways that create highly carcinogenic compounds. These compounds are the main culprit for the association between red and processed meat consumption and cancer.

How We Prepare Our Meat Causes Cancer

Heterocyclic amines, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, methyl carbonium, advanced glycation end products, and acrolein are all carcinogenic compounds that are formed at some level when we process and cook our meat. Each compound creates chaos in its own way within the body that can either indirectly or directly mutate genes and cause cancer.

Acrolein and Advanced Glycation End Products Don’t Discriminate

Acrolein, for example, has been found to directly mutate genes, which can lead to cancer formation. Smoking is known to cause lung cancer because acrolein is created when tobacco is burned. The acrolein is then inhaled into the lungs, causing genetic mutations in lung cells that lead to cancer.

Acrolein is also created when we expose carbohydrates, vegetable oils, animal fats, and amino acids to high heat. This partially explains why fried foods and overcooked or burned meat are toxic to the body. Advanced glycation end products are another cancerous compound that is formed when we cook our foods (not just meat) at high temperatures.

Why Smoked Meat, Deli Meat, and Grilled Meat is Bad For You

Heterocyclic amines, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, and methyl carbonium are the carcinogenic compounds that are most often found in processed, smoked, and cooked meats. Heterocyclic amines and polyaromatic hydrocarbons are both formed when the meat is cooked at high temperatures, and polyaromatic hydrocarbons can also be formed during periods of low oxygen exposure. You will find polyaromatic hydrocarbons in high amounts in smoked meats and fish. This makes these popular foods highly carcinogenic.

You may not have heard of methyl carbonium before, but you are probably familiar with its distant relatives, nitrate and nitrite. Nitrates and nitrites are commonly added to processed pork products like bacon to maintain their color and prolong shelf-life, but when these compounds interact with amino acids they can form nitrosamines.

So why does it matter? It doesn’t, especially for the body, because nitrates, nitrites, and nitrosamines aren’t toxic at all. But if nitrosamines degrade any further they become methyl carbonium, which is highly toxic to the body.

Methyl carbonium, heterocyclic amines, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, advanced glycation end products, and acrolein are by no means the only carcinogenic compounds that are created through cooking and processing meat, and some of them can still be found in high quantities in vegetarian and vegan diets. For example, cooked vegetable oils and plant foods can be a potent source of acrolein and advanced glycation end products.

This means that even if you are eating a vegan diet you will not be able to escape from pro-inflammatory carcinogenic compounds that can cause cancer — so what can you do?

How To Make Meat Healthy

It is actually simple and easy to reduce the carcinogenic compounds in your food.

First, marinate your meats in lemon juice, vinegar, herbs, and spices. This acidic marinade helps to prevent advanced glycation end products from forming, while the herbs and spices have a high antioxidant content that will keep the other carcinogenic compounds from forming when the meat is exposed to heat.

When it comes to cooking your food, it is best to replace your frying pan and grill with a slow cooker, steamer pot, or sous vide. Boiling, poaching, stewing, and steaming is the healthiest way to cook your meat, while frying, broiling, grilling, roasting, and smoking renders the meat carcinogenic.

It is also better to cook your meat at low temperatures and consume with other herbs and vegetables to ensure that carcinogenic compounds that are in your food will meet the extra antioxidants from the plant foods.

But it is important to mention that even if your meat contains no cancer causing compounds, it can still lead to the growth of existing cancer cells due to something called IGF-1.

Meat Can Feed Cancer

IGF-1, also known as insulin-like growth factor,  is a protein that has growth promoting effects on every cell in the body. This makes it essential for the growth and development of muscle and brain cells, and the healing of damaged tissues.
When we consume a high amount of complete protein — which is found mainly in animal products — IGF-1 levels will rise accordingly to help our cells use the amino acids from the protein. This is exactly what we need our body to do to maintain the health and growth of our cells, but there is one problem.

IGF-1 does not know the difference between your cells and cancer cells, so it can aid the growth of cancer cells as well. This is why high protein diets are linked to a higher risk of all-cause and cancer mortality — and the high protein content of meat explains why it has been linked to an increased risk of cancer.

This also means that meat is not the primary culprit for the association between cancer and meat consumption. Meat is just pointing to the fact that the combination of high amounts of toxic compounds with high IGF-1 levels will create the perfect environment for cancer to form and grow. In other words, cancer can be created and grown with or without meat consumption. What really matters is how you prepare your food and how much protein you are consuming.
Fortunately, we have already learned how to lower our exposure to toxic compounds in food — and that is relatively easy — but is there a way to hack your IGF-1 levels?

Hacking Your IGF-1 Levels to Starve Cancer

Although low levels of IGF-1 are correlated with lower rates of cancer, IGF-1 is still important to have at high levels at the right time. When we are adults, the right time for IGF-1 to be at high levels is when our cells need to heal from a workout or any other form of physical trauma is done to the body.

This means that if you time your protein consumption in response to when you need it most (before and after resistance training), you will increase IGF-1 at the right time so that you can build the cells that need it the most while preventing cancer cell growth. Although this is just a theory, it may be the best way to get the most health promoting effects from your meat.

On days that you don’t workout, it may be best to consume mostly plant foods and limit your protein consumption to below 20% of your daily caloric intake to keep your IGF-1 levels low and quality of health high. After the age of 65, however, protein seems to be more important for health and longevity — so people in this age group can benefit from consuming more than 20% of their calories from protein.

Increasing your activity levels is also another important tool you can use to maintain lower IGF-1 levels. To do this you can go for walks, take a hike, or do any other form of low-intensity aerobic activity everyday. Not only will this help reduce your cancer risk, it will improve your overall health and reduce your risk of other diseases — like diabetes — as well.

Putting it all Together

The meat we eat and what it does to our body is a complex issue that depends on the individual who is eating the meat, the quality of the meat, and how the meat is processed and cooked — so to say that meat causes cancer or does not cause cancer is an oversimplification. As we understand cancer more deeply and the effects that meat consumption has on our body though, we will soon be able to know who would benefit from eating more meat, who should limit their meat consumption, and if there is anyone that would be healthier by not eating meat at all.

One thing we do know for certain is that the way we cook and process meat can create carcinogenic compounds that directly and indirectly cause cancer. To prevent these cancerous compounds from forming — simply marinate your meat in lemon juice, vinegar, herbs, and spices, cook it at low temperatures, and eat your meat with a variety of vegetables, herbs, and/or fruit. This will allow you to get almost all of the health promoting benefits of eating meat while balancing deleterious effects.

We are also certain that high IGF-1 levels will lead to more cancer growth. Complete proteins — like those found in meat — cause an increase in IGF-1 levels. If we keep our IGF-1 levels low throughout the day, we can prevent cancer growth.  We can do this by limiting our meat consumption to when we need to recover from resistance training and by increasing our levels of low-intensity activity like walking.

We dug deep into the science in this article, but the science has little to say about the effects of 100% grass-fed red meat consumption vs. conventional, GMO grain-fed red meat consumption on human health. We can, however, make some sound assumptions based on the differences between each type of meat.

Does Quality Really Matter?

When researchers compared grass-fed beef to conventional, grain-fed beef, grass-fed beef had elevated precursors for Vitamins A and E, more of the health-promoting fatty acids CLA and Omega 3s, and more cancer-fighting antioxidants such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase. Conventional grain fed beef, on the other hand, has much lower levels of this health promoting compounds, while simultaneously providing us with more inflammatory fats like omega 6s, a small dose of antibiotics, and a higher risk of bacterial infection from salmonella.

This is part of the reason why many studies find meat to increase the risk of cancer because they use meat from sick, fat, and unhealthy animals.

When it comes to promoting health and preventing cancer, 100% grass-fed and grass finished pastured red meat is the best meat to have. Make sure you prepare it in the ways that we discussed earlier in this article to ensure that you don’t have any unhealthy compounds with your healthy meat.

Lawsuit Alleges that Monsanto Influenced the EPA’s Classification of Glyphosate

In 2015, the World Health Organization categorized glyphosate as a probable human carcinogen. A new lawsuit, filed on behalf of cancer victims, claims the Environmental Protection Agency had the information to label glyphosate as carcinogenic two years earlier and instead chose to claim glyphosate was “not likely to be carcinogenic to humans.”

Marion Copley, now deceased, was a toxicologist at the EPA for 30 years. In 2013, she wrote a letter to Jess Rowland, the chair of the EPA’s Cancer Assessment Review Committee (CARC), listing 14 reasons to classify glyphosate as carcinogenic. Copley also alleged that Rowland and other select colleagues changed important reports to benefit companies like Monsanto.

The lawsuit is demanding the release of Jess Rowland’s communications with Monsanto during his time on the CARC and his involvement with the release of the EPA’s memo declaring glyphosate is “not likely to be carcinogenic to humans.”

Something Isn’t Adding Up

This is not the first time there have been questions surrounding the EPA and their treatment of glyphosate. A glyphosate risk report that found glyphosate was not likely to be carcinogenic to humans, a direct contrast to the WHO report, was released in 2016 on the EPA website on April 29, only to be taken down four days later. This is not the first time two different groups of scientists (the IARC and CARC) have taken a look at the same problem and come up with conflicting views. But the EPA sent officials to help conduct the IARC study. The discrepancy in results was enough for the House of Representatives Science Committee to request interviews with four different EPA officials, including Jess Rowland. While it makes sense for the chair of the CARC to be mentioned, the letter from Marion Copley makes the EPA’s findings seem more like a dictate from private interests than an independent government report.

Where is Monsanto in All of This?

It goes without saying that Monsanto is deeply invested in keeping glyphosate from being labeled as a health hazard. It’s easy to sound like a conspiracy theorist, accusing the EPA of being in Monsanto’s back pocket, that EPA scientists collaborated with the scientists who found that glyphosate was a probable carcinogen and then walked it back. Monsanto is now using the EPA’s official report to dispute the study that the found that glyphosate was harmful. In that light, Marion Copley’s allegations of changing study findings to favor industry are not so outlandish. Until we have a transparent system, we have to trust that government science has our best interests at heart. Do we matter more than Monsanto?

Chemotherapy may easily be the most toxic treatment in modern conventional medicine. We see, just by looking at the ingredients, that every single vaccine contains toxins and many contain DNA disrupting viruses.

We know that vaccines rarely, if ever, deserve the credit they get for eliminating disease. We believe every vaccination causes vaccine damage. Toxic chemicals cause damage; it’s that simple. But even if we discovered that we were wrong, and/or vaccines were suddenly made to be much safer and proven to be truly effective, there is still a reason why we would not, will not vaccinate.

Vaccines are produced by large corporations that are so profit driven they are perfectly willing to cut corners at the expense of people’s lives. They will harm children, infants, anyone, and sweep it all under the rug. We have seen this. We’re not talking about unproven conspiracy theories. We’re not talking about just a handful of incidences either. The vaccine industry has proven itself to be corrupt, time and time again.

We do our best to boycott companies that prove themselves to be unethical. But more importantly, if we’re going to trust someone to inject something directly into our blood, we absolutely need to completely trust the product and the people making it. When the products are not ethically and precisely produced, the results are catastrophic.

Maurice Hilleman, PhD

Maurice Hilleman, PhD was a microbiologist, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Science, the Institute of Medicine, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society. He received the National Medal of Science and a special lifetime achievement award from the World Health Organization (along with other awards) after developing more vaccines than any other scientist (more than forty), including the vaccine for mumps, measles, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, chickenpox, meningitis, rubella, and pneumonia.

Dr. Hilleman headed Merck’s vaccine program. Due to mandatory retirement, he left his position as a senior vice president of Merck Research Labs at age 65 to direct the new Merck Institute for Vaccinology and serve as an advisor to public health organizations, including the World Health Organization. He died at age 85.

This is but a small token of the accolades for Dr. Hilleman, but the cited information should suffice in establishing his credibility. It seems whenever the safety or efficacy of vaccines is questioned, the first knee-jerk reaction is to discredit the source.

Dr. Hilleman, in an interview with PBS, revealed that back in the 1950s, there were “forty something viruses” in vaccines that they were inactivating. As an example, he said, “Yellow fever vaccine had leukemia virus in it.”

SV40 and the Cancer Connection

He recounted a conversation he had about the simian virus, SV40, that he found in his good friend’s, Albert Sabin’ s, live-virus polio vaccine. When Sabin asked why he was concerned about it, Hilleman said,

…I have a feeling in my bones that this virus is different. I don’t know why, to tell you this, but I’ve been around biology a long time. I just think this virus may have some long-term effects.”

When Sabin asked him what he thought the long-term effects might be, Hilleman said, “Cancer.”

Hilleman’s team injected hamsters with the virus.

…We knew it was in our seed stock for making vaccines. That virus, you see, is 1 in 10,000 particles, [it] is not inactivated by formaldehyde. It was good science at the time because that was what you did. You didn’t worry about these wild viruses.

So then, the next thing we know is, three or four weeks after that, there were tumors popping out in these hamsters.”

Conservative estimates determine 30 million Americans and hundreds of millions more around the globe received a vaccine contaminated with SV40. Both the Sabin and the Salk polio vaccines were contaminated, as were different adenovirus vaccines used with the U.S. military in the first half of the 1960s.

Today, decades later, SV40 has been found in many kinds of human cancers including cancer of the lung, brain, bone, and lymphatic system. Whether the virus causes cancer in humans has been a matter of debate.

Many who are pro-vaccine will search just long enough to find a source that discounts this possibility (such as Wikipedia). Many such sources are easy to find. Dig a little deeper and you will find current peer-reviewed sources that say the opposite.

Persuasive evidence now indicates that SV40 is causing infections in humans today and represents an emerging pathogen. A meta-analysis of molecular, pathological, and clinical data from 1,793 cancer patients indicates that there is a significant excess risk of SV40 associated with human primary brain cancers, primary bone cancers, malignant mesothelioma, and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Experimental data strongly suggest that SV40 may be functionally important in the development of some of those human malignancies.”

So we now know that SV40, “a potent DNA tumor virus,” is associated with our cancer epidemic that afflicts 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women.

We have learned this information through the revelation of Dr. Hilleman, a renowned scientist who is now deceased, and today’s research scientists. In his interview, Hilleman stated that there was no press release to inform the public about the SV40 contamination because it was “…a scientific affair within the scientific community.” The scientific community closed ranks to protect both the pharmaceutical companies and the vaccine program.

Judy Mikovits, PhD

Fast forward to today. The vaccine program is a multibillion-dollar industry under attack by concerned citizens due to the rise of autism and other neurological impairments they believe are caused by vaccines. No longer dependent upon the press for information, concerned parents and advocates for change communicate via the Internet.

Another internationally known scientist, one with a previously flawless reputation, a “rock star among her peers”, Dr. Judy Mikovits, stepped forward. Mikovits, a molecular biologist and biochemist with more than 30 years experience served as the director of the lab of Antiviral Drug Mechanisms at the National Cancer Institute before directing the Cancer Biology program at EpiGenX Pharmaceuticals. She later developed the first neuroimmune institute. Her early work focused on cancer and HIV, her later work focused on chronic fatigue syndrome and autism. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles.

Retrovirus Autism Connection

In 2011, she came forward with the discovery that at least 30% of our vaccines are contaminated with a retrovirus, one associated with autism and chronic fatigue syndrome. But that’s not all. The virus is also associated with Parkinson’s, Lou Gehrig’s disease, and Alzheimer’s. This retrovirus comes from lab mice.

Mikovits was threatened and told to destroy her data. She refused. She was fired and later arrested for stealing her data, an act she denies. Years later, charges were finally dropped and the 4-year gag order imposed by the court was lifted. Now Mikovits is speaking out. She asks,

How many new retroviruses have we created through all the mouse research, the vaccine research, gene therapy research? More importantly, how many new diseases have we created?”

And she says,

When they destroyed all of our work, and discredited everything I or Frank Ruscetti had ever published, and arranged for the publication of my mug shot in Science, the NIH very deliberately sent the message to researchers everywhere about what would happen to any honest scientist who dared ask those important questions.”

You can do a search for Judy Mikovits on the Internet and easily find that she lost her job, was arrested, and discredited. The question is why. The answer? Because she dared to come forward and tell the public that vaccines are associated with autism and other diseases. And because she is telling us that the labs are responsible for the contamination, the reason for the association.

If you are pro-vaccine, know that you believe in the promise that we have been given, that vaccines are safe and effective. When you seek out and find a source to confirm this belief, what is that source? Is it the pharmaceutical industry? Is it someone who receives funding from the pharmaceutical industry?

Why Big Pharma Will Hide the Truth

anti-vax memeIf the pharmaceutical industry admits their contaminated vaccines are implicated in millions of cases of cancer and if clear, conclusive evidence proves the link between vaccines and the devastating rise in autism, what would be the result? How many victims and parents of victims will demand compensation? How many will refuse vaccines, deciding that the risks outweigh the benefits?

Instead of taking that risk, pharmaceutical companies will continue to protect their corporate interests. Doctors with enough clout or with evidence that is highly damaging to the industry will be silenced or discredited. Mainstream media will be controlled through coercion (pharmaceutical companies control media through advertising dollars – huge budgets the news outlets depend on for revenue). The media will continue to be used to promote fear, stirring up the ludicrous belief that unvaccinated children pose a risk for vaccinated children.

The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP)

The ever-growing threat to the vaccine program has taken a new turn with mandated vaccinations. The federal government is now considering a federal law to force parents to vaccine their children regardless of their beliefs or concerns about toxic, contaminated vaccines. The federal government has already eliminated a parent or an adult victim’s ability to sue pharmaceutical companies for damages from vaccines. Our right to sue has been replaced with adjudication through the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP), regularly called vaccine court. Financial compensation is entirely derived from taxes placed on vaccines.

A document from the Health and Human Resources Department about VICP compensations clearly shows the current level of deception our government is using to assuage fears of vaccinations and support any and all questions from wavering pro-vaccine citizens. The document opens with these words:

The United States has the safest, most effective vaccine supply in history. In the majority of cases, vaccines cause no side effects, however they can occur, as with any medication—but most are mild. Very rarely, people experience more serious side effects, like allergic reactions.

In those instances, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) allows individuals to file a claim for financial compensation.”

This makes it sound like claims are being made for allergic reactions, not for neurological damage, for autism, paralysis, death, or any number of other outcomes.

MMR II Adverse Reactions

Compare the benign statement from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program suggesting allergies are the adverse reactions causing concern to the actual adverse reactions listed in the insert from the MMR II or the following information extrapolated from the insert.

If you are still not convinced that injecting mercury, formaldehyde, aluminum, polysorbate 80…

“While Merck, the MMR II manufacturer, does not list autism as one of the possible side effects of this vaccine, it does list many other serious, adverse reactions. This list includes meningitis, encephalitis, pancreatitis, diabetes, decreased blood platelets, convulsions, seizures, arthritis, bronchial spasm (asthmatic reaction), pneumonia, anaphylactic shock, and death. The list also includes many severe illnesses/reactions that are not commonly recognized or understood by the general public. These include:

  • Pneumonitis – inflammation of the lungs
  • Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) – a severe, life-threatening disease in which the body attacks the nervous system causing paralysis.
  • Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) – a rare, fatal neurological disease
  • Encephalopathy – abnormal brain function that may denote structural damage
  • Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) – a post infection or post vaccine inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. (Attacks brain tissues and nerves).
  • Transverse myelitis – an inflammatory disease of the spinal cord that causes weakness and loss of sensation and it affects the autonomic nervous system (breathing, the heart, digestion, reflexes).
  • Ataxia – lack of control of muscles suggesting brain and nerve damage.
  • Polyneuritis – weakness, numbness and pain – nerve damage
  • Polyneuropathy – damage to nerves causing tingling and pain that may begin in the hands and feet and spread to other parts of the body and may affect the autonomic nervous system
  • Ocular palsies – Damage to the nerves of the eye affecting eye movements, pupil constriction, and eyelid movement often resulting in an inability to focus without double vision.
  • Panniculitis – inflammation of the fat layer and connective tissue just under the skin
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome – following a painful rash, the top layer of skin blisters, dies, and sheds.
  • Erythema multiforme – skin reaction similar to Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
  • Nerve deafness – hearing loss and dysfunction.
  • Retinitis – damage to the retina causing damage to vision.
  • Optic neuritis – inflammation of the optic nerve, which can cause temporary blindness.
  • Papillitis – Inflammation of the optic nerve head
  • Epididymitis – Inflammation of the tube at the back of the testicle.
  • Orchitis – inflammation of the testicles.

Face the Truth

For far too many, simple statements made by the government such as “Very rarely, people experience more serious side effects, like allergic reactions.” obfuscate the truth. And then, any claims that vaccines cause autism or other serious side effects are swept aside with, “At least 250 studies have proven there is no link between autism and vaccines.”

Those who still believe our vaccines are safe and effective are ignoring these truths:

  • The inserts show very real and very serious risks associated with vaccination including possible death.
  • Pharmaceutical companies are not benevolent or trustworthy.
    • Big pharmaceutical companies have been fined billions for illegal activities. The top 6 are:
      • GlaxoSmithKline PLC, fined 7.56 billion for 20 settlements
      • Pfizer Inc., fined 2.96 billion for 15 settlements
      • Johnson & Johnson, fined 2.33 billion for 14 settlements
      • Merck & Co. Inc., fined 1.86 billion, for 27 settlements
      • Abbott Laboratories, fined 1.82 billion for 12 settlements
      • Eli Lilly & Co., fined 1.71 billion for 13 settlements
    • Two former Merck scientists, whistleblowers, contend that Merck “fraudulently misled the government and omitted, concealed, and adulterated material information regarding the efficacy of its mumps vaccine in violation of the FCA [False Claims Act].” Merck stands accused of defrauding the U.S. government in order to procure government vaccine contracts. This, of course, is not the first time they have faced state and/or federal fraud charges.
  • The CDC cannot be trusted to tell the truth in regards to the vaccine/autism connection.
    • A whistleblower has come forth from the CDC in regards to suppressed data regarding a correlation between the MMR vaccine and autism in black male children
    • Pharmaceutical company executives have served as advisory panel members for the CDC.
    • Dr. Julie Gerberding, who headed the CDC from 2002 through 2009, became the new President of Merck’s vaccine division.

If you are still not convinced that injecting mercury, formaldehyde, aluminum, polysorbate 80, and animal or human tissue with whatever viruses they carry into your body or your child’s body is not safe, speak to a parent who knows a vaccine caused their child’s autism. Listen as a mother tells you her healthy, happy, verbal child received a shot, spiked a fever, and disappeared. It only takes hearing the story once to know the truth. When you hear the same story again and again, denial is much harder.

Today, 1 in every 45 children are diagnosed with autism, but how many others are suffering in ways that manifest with other disabilities from ADHD to diabetes, auto-immune disorders and other chronic disorders? With so many toxins in our air, water, and food, injecting more of them directly into the bloodstream is asking for an epidemic. And that’s what we have on our hands, a brain-damaged, vaccine injured society. It is an epidemic, to say the least, and it’s growing rapidly.

Diseases are scary. The idea of dying from a disease that one could be vaccinated for is scary. There are potential risks on both sides. We choose to minimize our risk on this matter in two ways. First, we know that the right nutrition and a truly healthy lifestyle is a better defense against disease than any corporation can concoct in a lab. Second, we choose not to trust companies with our life when those companies have proven they cannot be trusted. It’s that simple.

Disease is a symptom of cellular malfunction. Cells malfunction due to a lack of nutrition and/or toxicity. Health starts in the gut because it’s all about what you put in it. And, the truth is, with a healthy gut, the body can withstand a remarkable toxic load. New Study Shows Children Should Eat Organic to Reduce Pesticide Levels

For a long time, we have known that organophosphorus (OP) pesticides, like chlorpyrifos and diazinon, are bad for humans, as well as pests. Almost two decades ago, they began to be phased out for residential use due to the risks. Unfortunately, they’re still heavily utilized in agriculture, and researchers in California decided to identify how much of these, and other, harmful pesticides, children are actually ingesting.

The Study Focused on Low-Income Children in Urban and Agricultural Areas

If it feels like you’ve already heard this information, you probably have, but not quite in this way. Previous studies have focused on pesticide levels of children in non-agricultural and suburban areas. As most of us know, these studies have shown that children have lower levels of pesticides when they go organic. The difference with this new study is that children in urban and agricultural areas are exposed to more pesticides in the environment, especially those in low-income families. Therefore, the question was not whether organic diets reduce pesticide levels- we know that they do, but whether children who are exposed to environmental pesticides have reduced levels when they go organic as well. For this reason, the study included participants from the Fruitvale area of Oakland, California, an urban area, and also from Salinas, California, a largely agricultural region.

Children Between the Ages of Three and Six were Analyzed

The study lasted only 16 days, but the results were incredibly apparent. For the first four days, 40 kids between the ages of three and six ate their normal diet, were monitored by an in-home personal trainer before or after extracurricular activities. They then ate an organic diet for seven days and switched back to their regular diet for the remainder of the study. Urine samples were collected every day of the study, and scientists analyzed the samples for pesticide residue and markers.

The Amount of Two Pesticides Reduced By 50% on an Organic Diet

The study revealed that reside for two specific pesticides was cut in half when children went on an organic diet. Levels of a common herbicide also dropped by about one-fourth. Asa Bradman, an author of the study and Associate Director of the Center for Environmental Research and Children’s Health at the University of California, Berkeley, acknowledges, “There’s evidence that diet is one route of exposure to pesticides, and you can reduce your exposure by choosing organic food.” However, she cautions people not to cut regular fruits and vegetables out of their diet, because they both provide health benefits.

Sadly, Levels of Three of the Most-Common Pesticides Did Not Decline

The study showed that pesticides commonly used in residential applications did not decline. So although there is benefit in going organic, it’s only part of the solution to an overall problem. However, the study did uncover another remarkable find. Because food diaries were also kept, researchers noted that kids ate more healthy grains and produce when they were on the organic diet. In other words, choosing to stick with an organic diet can have other unexpected health benefits.

Pesticides are Linked to Childhood Cancer and Low IQ, Among Other Issues

There is a laundry list of issues that scientists have linked to pesticides. Recently, a study published in the October issue of Pediatrics linked pesticides with a higher risk of developing leukemia and lymphoma. Though that particular study focused on children who were exposed to insecticides indoors, a 47% and 43% increase in cancer rates were noted, respectively. Chensheng Lu, of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, who headed up the study, said that instances of other cancers, like bladder and prostate, may also increase with exposure to insecticides. Additional studies link pesticides to low IQ and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as minor conditions like nausea, skin irritation, and headaches. The same issue of Pediatrics that features this study also covers the story of a seven-month-old victim of SIDS. Analysis of her brain tissue revealed high levels of a pesticide known as DBNP, which she may have been exposed to two weeks prior to her death when her father sprayed the house for flies.

These cases are not rare. Pesticide use can cause acute health issues, and the compounds can build up over time undetected, resulting in long-term health consequences. Keeping children on an organic diet is an essential part of limiting exposure to dangerous and deadly chemicals. However, it’s also clear that parents should take steps to limit environmental exposure as well.




Five Foods that Feed Cancer

Some foods can speed you to your grave. Rather than promote health and healing, some foods are known to feed cancer more than they feed you.

Soda

Sodas are known to be bad for you, but did you know they can cause cancer? Sodas are loaded with sugar, artificial flavors, artificial colors, and preservatives as well as other chemicals. Caramel coloring agents are added to the drinks to give it that brown color. This process can produce a possible carcinogen called 4-methylimidazole. Surprisingly enough, the FDA has yet to limit the amount of this chemical byproduct allowed in sodas. Researchers have found that just drinking one can of soda a day raises the risk of cancer and this affects between 44% and 58% of all Americans.

Processed Meat

Processed meats that include artificial preservatives, flavorings, and colors include bacon, sausage, hot dogs, salami, beef jerky, ham, canned meats, and meat-based sauces. The WHO found that daily consumption of 50g of processed meat results in an 18% increase in the risk of colorectal cancer. This is roughly equal to eating about 2 pieces of bacon a day. While this is not much, and eating processed meats does not directly translate into getting cancer, frequently eating large amounts of it does increase your risk. In order to lower your risk, it is better to avoid this type of meat. If you choose to eat lunchmeat, choose the brands that do not include nitrates, nitrites, and other chemicals.

Sugar

Sugar is highly processed and stripped of minerals. As a result, it is very acidic. An acidic pH benefits cancer growth. But sugar does more. It impairs the immune system and directly feeds cancer cells and tumors.

GMO’s

There are now many animal studies that show long-term consumption of GMOs to be harmful. A variety of deleterious effects have been documented: kidney damage, liver damage, infertility, reduced birth weight, birth defects, and cancer. GMOs also damage gut health, feed cancer, and lead to other illnesses.

Artificial Flavors, Colors, Sweeteners, Preservatives, and MSG

If you’re thinking of trading in the sugar laden soda for the zero calorie stuff, you may want to reconsider. Food-like products, that aren’t really food at all do more damage to the body and even promote more cancer growth than sugar and other junk food. Anything artificial is bad news for the body’s overall function, and this can be disastrous when battling cancer. For instance, MSG is a neurotoxin; it kills brain cells. In addition, all of these food-like products dramatically disrupt the function of the beneficial bacteria in our gut. If we eat processed foods filled with artificial ingredients, we are giving cancerous cells a chance to prosper.

Many chemicals are known to cause cancer, so it should not surprise us to find chemical laden food causes cancer – in more ways than one. Cancer doesn’t just happen due to some bodily malfunction. In order for cancer to progress to the point that it poses a threat, something is horribly wrong. More often than not, environmental toxins, usually from one’s diet, have caused imbalances in the body that have enabled cancer to grow. If you’re facing cancer or any other serious disease choose food wisely. If it’s not real food, don’t eat it.

These deeply colored fruits have high levels of antioxidants including anthocyanins and other flavonoids. These antioxidants work to remove free radicals from the body, making them important in fighting cancer. Berries also have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help the body heal itself.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are probably one of the better-known types of food that fight cancer, but many people do not understand why. The state of our health determines whether we “get cancer.” Beating cancer is something we can do every time we eat, depending on what we eat.
