If you want to purchase hand-crafted, fresh-baked, hand-packed, all-natural, and organic dog and cat treats, this is your company. The Gourmet Pawpourri 7-flavor buffet dog treats certainly passed the taste test. Out of all the treats they like, our 3 dogs all picked K-9 as their first choice. One of my volunteer taste testers is currently lying on my foot, hoping for seconds.
These treats contain no added salt or sugar (natural honey is listed as an ingredient), nor do they contain artificial flavorings, fillers, or preservatives. All of the products are free of wheat, corn, and soy. They do include eggs, oats, rye, brown rice, vegetables, fruits, and spices.
A quick glance at the K-9 Confections website www.k9confections.com reveals a variety of holiday treats that rival frosted cookies from the corner bakery. They’re cute. They’re wholesome. But they’re ridiculously expensive.
At OLM we don’t anthropomorphize our dogs. We don’t dress them in designer sweaters, coats and hoodies, or put bows in their hair. We do feed them organic dog food, organic eggs, Udo’s 3,6,9 with DHA Oil, and
Total Nutrition Powder on a daily basis. We don’t think we’d ever spend $1.75 a piece for holiday doggie cookies or $31.95 a pound for doggie crackers. Given a choice, we’re quite sure they’d prefer organic ground sirloin for $5.89* a pound. Come to think of it, even organic filet mignon is cheaper at $27.99* a pound!
Even though these treats are outside of our personal price range, we applaud K-9 for their choice of human-grade, organic, and natural ingredients. The dogs do love them. Even Michael, our editor-in-chief, says they taste great!
