Clean Ocean Action warns that the Atlantic Sea Island Group is planning to build an offshore industrial complex for the importation of liquefied natural gas. They warn that this fuel from Russia, the Middle East, and Africa is 40% dirtier than American natural gas, thereby producing a much higher level of CO2 emissions—a threat to global warming. They also warn that this operation would pose a threat to American energy independence, in that American sources of natural gas are plentiful and cheaper, and we have enough natural gas to meet our needs for the next 120 years.
If American natural gas is cheaper and supplies are plentiful, who stands to benefit from this project? Who would buy the more expensive gas and why? CleanOceanAction.org ![]()
