all of your sightseeing can be accomplished in a pair of comfortable shoes. For further distances, travelers can hop on the
public transportation system or even take a ride in a hybrid taxi. Recently the mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino, proposed that all off the city’s taxis would be replaced with hybrids by 2015.

The hotels in Boston are helping to keep the city at the top of the green lists by incorporating environmentally friendly practices in their daily operations. The Comfort Inn and Suites and The Lenox are not only the greenest hotels in Boston, but some of the greenest hotels in the country! The Comfort Inn and Suites and the Lenox are a part of the Saunders Hotel Group, a company with a long standing commitment to the environment. From their guest rooms to their
transportation services, they work hard to ensure they are making the smallest impact on the planet.
Each hotel offsets 100% of its electricity with wind energy credits and they conserve that energy through compact fluorescent lighting and Energy Star appliances. They emphasize guest education by sharing eco driving tips to save money and gas, in by providing environmental literature in every room. They even have a television channel dedicated to eco programming. Hotel guests have the opportunity to participate in environmental activities during their stay through their sheets and towels reuse programs and easily accessible recycling bins. Visitors can breathe easy knowing that the hotels purchase non-toxic materials including low and no VOC paint, carpets, adhesives, and cleaners. Even the transportation to and from the hotels is earth friendly. The Lenox provides a hybrid car service to guests and the Comfort Inn and Suites provides shuttles that run on natural gas and biodiesel.
The Irving House at Harvard Square is also an excellent green option for your trip to Green Town. The large guest house has received a 4 out of 5 Branch Green Score and incorporates many environmental programs into its operations. Highlights of its

environmental programs include recycling programs, local purchasing, providing bulk amenities, and participating in both energy and water conservation programs.
Keep in mind that any trip can be green; all it takes is a little thought and dedication. Remember the steps you take at home while you’re away. Turn off your lights, TV, and air conditioner when you step out for the day. Save your recyclables for a drop off location, and if your hotel does not offer environmental programs, speak with the management.
