Climate Change Report
A new report by Greenpeace predicts that rising sea levels will drive more
than 125 million people from their homes in Bangladesh and India by the end
of the century if global warming continues.
“India cannot afford to sit back and allow the climate crisis to drive millions of
its people homeless,” the study commissioned by Greenpeace warned. “India
cannot hope to adapt to catastrophic climate change.”
India is preparing a “national action plan” to address climate change issues.
India is focusing primarily on adaptation, as opposed to mitigation. “We must
adapt and the developed nations should mitigate,” said the deputy chairman of
India’s planning commission.
