Making a transition to being “green” is a slow process for most. It’s often a difficult one as well. It’s not something that happens overnight. I’m learning. I’m not the greenest person I know, but I am becoming greener one step at a time.
For those of you who are making an eco-transition, it’s all about steps. Improve in one area at a time. Trying to eliminate your carbon footprint can be overwhelming. A great place to start is in your home. If you can lower your power bill even 20% this month over last year’s bill for the same time period, you’ve made a phenomenal start. Maybe next week it’s time to go shopping. Try an environmentally friendly cleaner. Slowly you’ll find what works for you and how you can do your part. And you will be able to do more and more as time goes on.
For those who already live the environmentally friendly lifestyle, consider Jeffrey Davis’s line, “Eco snobbery sucks!”
For me, health is my forte. I could teach almost anyone a thing or two about health. But many of you reading this could teach me a thing or two about the eco-friendly life. Health feels second nature to me, but green is a bit more of an effort. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not a hummer driver or anything. My carbon footprint is certainly lower than most people’s. But I know I can do better, a lot better.
I promise you, G-Life readers, that I will become more and more environmentally responsible. This month I am starting within my home. I’ll take steps. I’ll improve. And I will share my experiences within the pages of this publication as I work towards living in complete harmony with our environment.
