Watermelon is high in vitamin C (antioxidant), vitamin A (beta carotene), lycopene (antioxidant) and citrulline (an amino acid). Tomatoes are known for their lycopene, the phytonutrient famous for fighting heart disease and prostate cancer. Unlike watermelon, you have to cook tomatoes in some oil to release the lycopene. Cup for cup, watermelon has 40% more lycopene than tomatoes.
There are fazes that people typically go through while learning to eat right and take control of their health. For me, the first step was choosing the fast food restaurant that makes those sandwiches fresh, right in front of you. I also switched from cola to the clear lemon and lime flavored sodas, because I decided to obey my thirst, as the old slogan went.
Bananas are good for constipation, skin problems, heart, nervous system, PMS, anemia, kidneys, bones, stomach ulcers, indigestion, emotional state, blood circulation, hangovers, rheumatic aches and pains, high blood pressure, morning sickness, and muscular regeneration.
Way before the advent of synthetic, drug-based medicine, herbs and spices were valued for their medicinal properties. One clear example of this is the use of plants in Ayurvedic medicine in India.
Fermented foods are becoming very popular, and for good reason. They are rich in probiotics and enzymes, and have highly bioavailable forms of the nutrients contained within the food or beverage being fermented. In this case the health benefits of apple cider vinegar come from the mighty apple, and the results couldn’t be much more spectacular.
If I were allowed only one herbal remedy to treat medical conditions, it would be raw, organic garlic. Garlic is nature’s antibiotic and more. Garlic kills (removes, eliminates, reduces) bacteria, colds, flus, viruses, parasites, inflammation, warts, fungi, and plagues.

A ketogenic diet is a very low carbohydrate, moderate protein and high fat based nutrition plan. A ketogenic diet trains the bodies metabolism to run off of fatty acids or ketone bodies. This nutrition plan has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce inflammation. This leads to improved muscle development and fat metabolism.
The good news is that there are some very easy, relatively inexpensive steps almost anyone can take to holistically improve their health. The bad news is that health and vitality is not to be found in a bottle or some other form of packaging.
